Gardai running amok because of cutbacks?

All newspapers maintain or have contracts with picture libraries from which they can pull images to illustrate stories as they arise. But editors should really choose these images carefully and think how the photograph will sit alongside the story. Picture editors get it right most of the time but the tearsheet from the Belfast Telegraph (online) illustrates one occasion when, in my opinion, a different image might have been a better choice.

Just because you have an image doesn’t mean you have to use it.
