Great Wedding Photography – or wedding gimmicks?

Recently I came across this tweet from wedding photographer Karl Keaney.  Karl is a great photographer and provides a wonderful service to his clients but the tweet got me thinking.

Photographers nowadays have to look beyond still images and give clients some fun and and maybe the odd gimmick for social media – I get that. Photobooths, moustaches as props, you know the things.  But I think when it comes to looking back after 10, 20 or 50 years nothing is going to look better than a professional album. Nothing will beat great wedding photography. Insist on seeing a couple of finished albums from start to finish – and then ask to see other things – insurance certificates, Contracts etc.

Only then agree to book a photographer.

Never on a FB recommendation, never because you like their website and certainly not on price. But maybe I am wrong – what do you think? Feel free to leave a comment.
